Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest and most populous economy. Its relatively young population of 260 million presents both a sizeable workforce and pool of consumers. Indonesia’s startup ecosystem has seen a growth in funding from US$444 million (S$602 million) in 2012 to US$3 billion (S$4 billion) in 2017.
As the birthplace of four unicorns (Go-Jek, Traveloka, Bukalapak and Tokopedia), Indonesia’s startup ecosystem is poised to expand rapidly. Singapore startups serious about expanding into the country need to ride the wave of growth.
Our in-market partners in Jakarta will facilitate collaboration between Singapore-based and Indonesia-based startups, and expose more firms to innovation hotbeds in Indonesia. BLOCK71 Jakarta is one such launchpad Singapore-based firms can leverage under the GIA. The incubation and co-working space is currently home to over 20 Singapore startups.
