The US is regularly ranked the most entrepreneurial economy in the world by the Global Entrepreneurship Index. Many startups have set up home in the world’s top startup ecosystems of Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Silicon Valley. These ecosystems have deep resources, from top universities to leading tech companies, innovative multi-national companies, to active venture capital firms.
In 2018, the value of venture capital investment in the US amounted to US$99.5 billion (S$153 billion). Silicon Valley, which has been ranked the number one global startup ecosystem by Startup Genome since 2012, is the world’s main unicorn factory, producing more than 89 unicorns from early 2019 onwards.
