International Trading Executives

1. Overview

Are you a mid-career professional wanting to switch over to international trading? The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) – International Trading offers you the opportunity to equip yourself with fundamental skills in trade financing, trade analytics, trade operations and risk management.

This is a joint initiative of Enterprise Singapore (ESG), International Trading Institute at the Singapore Management University (ITI@SMU), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Academy and Workforce Singapore (WSG).

a. Benefits

SMU will provide career placement services for eligible individuals to help match you to a new job with participating trading companies. After securing an employer, you will join a series of classroom, online learning and experiential learning projects organised by ITI@SMU to acquire knowledge about trading functions. You will also be placed on the Global Trade Certification (GTC) programme managed by ICC Academy, where you will learn the fundamentals of trade finance through a suite of online modules.

The programme will also offer on-the-job training conducted by experienced mentors with your employer. They will share relevant and practical knowledge to help you prepare for your job. At the end of the one-year programme, you will be conferred a Specialist Diploma in International Trading from SMU, as well as the Global Trade Certification from the ICC Academy.

b. Eligibility

You must fulfil all the following conditions:

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • New hire: Work less than three months in a Professional, Manager or Executive role, and be selected by an eligible participating company in the programme
  • Mid-Career : Must have graduated for more than 2 years and worked in a different job function
  • Have a minimum of a Diploma or equivalent
