1. Overview

Professional Conversion Programmes (PCPs) are career conversion programmes for mid-career professionals who are looking for good prospects and opportunities in new jobs or industries. There are two types of training provided under PCP:

  • Place-and-Train: You are hired by a participating employer before undergoing training to equip you with the necessary skills to take on your new job.
  • Attach-and-Train: You are provided with training and work attachments in companies with good future job opportunities.

2. Professional Conversion Programme for Retail

  • Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Retail Store Manager
  • The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Retail Store Managers (RSM) helps mid-career professionals re-skill to embark on a new career in retail. As a Retail Store Manager, you are in constant contact with customers and staff. The role includes ensuring good service delivery, monitoring sales performance, and financial management.

As a mid-career professional, you will first be hired by a participating company under a Place-and-Train programme. You will then undergo a Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) training programme conducted by the Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS), which complements the structured On-the-Job Training that will equip you with the right competencies for your new role as a retail manager.

You will also gain comprehensive coaching in retail store management, and receive nationally accredited certificate of attainment under the WSQ framework for retail. This will enhance your employability in the retail industry.

  • Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Digital Professional
  • With the proliferation of digital retail technologies, the retail industry offers exciting job opportunities.

The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) for Digital Professionals attracts new entrants to the industry and helps mid-career professionals be re-skilled with the necessary competencies to embark on a career in digital retail.

You will be hired on a Place-and-Train basis with participating employers, and undergo structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) to help you gain relevant skills for your new job. To supplement this, there will also be a 136-hours classroom training by the Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS) on Alibaba’s Digital Commerce Strategy, Implementation and Entrepreneurial Programme.
