This programme aims to provide international trading companies with a steady stream of talent to grow your businesses. To do so, we will equip Singaporean mid-career professionals with the fundamental skills necessary to perform their international trading jobs in middle office functions, trade finance, trade analytics, trade operations and risk management. We will also help displaced and unemployed mid-career professionals transition to the international trading sector.
The initiative is a joint-initiative by Enterprise Singapore (ESG), International Trading Institute at Singapore Management University (ITI@SMU), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Academy and Workforce Singapore (WSG). Participating employers are required to provide candidates with on-the-job training, together with structured training conducted by mentors who will share relevant and practical knowledge to prepare the individual for a job in international trading.
Candidates who have secured a job with your company will join a series of classroom, online learning and experiential learning projects organised by ITI@SMU to acquire knowledge about trading functions. They will also be placed on the Global Trade Certification (GTC) programme managed by ICC Academy where they will learn the fundamentals of trade finance through a suite of online modules.
At the end of the one-year programme, candidates are conferred a Specialist Diploma in International Trading from SMU and the Global Trade Certification from ICC Academy.
As an employer, you will have access to an untapped pool of mid-career professionals from other sectors who are keen on joining your industry. Your company will also get support from Enterprise Singapore to develop sector-specific skillsets of employees as part of the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP).
This programme is approved under WSG's PCP Scheme and companies are eligible for subsidised course fee and training allowances, subject to all eligibility criteria being met.
Participating companies must be registered or incorporated in Singapore, issue a valid employment contract to the candidate and provide a structured on-the-job training for the candidate.
