The CSGKC is a greenfield development of about 123 sq km, and is a key project supported under the SGCC’s ambit. Established in November 2010 and located in the Huangpu District of Guangzhou, the CSGKC was previously a private sector-led and government-supported collaboration between Ascendas-Singbridge and the Guangzhou Development District (GDD). In November 2018, a Framework Agreement was signed by Minister of Education Ong Ye Kung and then-PRC International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying to elevate the CSGKC to a State-Level Bilateral Cooperation Project. With the elevation, the CSGKC will feature a Demonstration Zone for Enhanced Cooperation (DZEC) to facilitate bilateral cooperation in the areas of technology innovation, intellectual property rights, advanced manufacturing and talent development.
The Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council (SGCC) was established in July 2009 to deepen the bilateral engagement between Singapore and Guangdong. The SGCC aims to promote cooperation between Singapore and Guangdong not just in economic areas, but also in other areas such as training, tourism and education. Singapore Minister for Education Ong Ye Kung and Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui are the co-chairmen of the SGCC.
