Media Releases 07 Apr 2020 Updated 07 Apr 2020 Eight establishments warned for non-compliance with safe distancing measures Share: MR No.: 017/20 Singapore, Tuesday, 7 April 2020 Eight establishments warned for non-compliance with safe distancing measures Enterprise Singapore has issued advisory letters to seven Food & Beverage (F&B) establishments and one retail establishment on 6 April 2020. These establishments did not observe the safe distancing measures adequately, despite repeated reminders to rectify and adhere to the measures. Errant business operators that do not comply with the safe distancing measures in the next follow-up check will be prosecuted under the Infectious Diseases Act (IDA) and any regulations promulgated thereunder. These establishments include: ChiCha San Chen outlets at Jem and Tampines 1; Kaffe and Toast at Clementi Mall; Koi outlets at VivoCity and Jurong Point; Nakhon Kitchen at VivoCity; Ya Kun at Jem; and Courts at Tampines Mall. Enterprise Singapore would also like to remind businesses to comply with the elevated set of safe distancing measures, which will commence from today (7 April) to 4 May 2020 (inclusive). These heightened measures, including closure of non-essential services and the ban on dining-in at F&B establishments, are put in place to reduce the risk of further local transmission of COVID-19. Close to 10,000 F&B and retail establishments in shopping malls have been checked to date; majority have implemented safe distancing measures and some are in the process of rectifying their measures. In an effort to step up surveillance on the ground during the circuit-breaker period, we aim to deploy double the number of Safe Distancing Ambassadors (from the current 100 people) to check that F&B and retail establishments comply with the latest tightened safe distancing measures. The effectiveness of the safe distancing measures hinges on every member of our community doing their part. Businesses should adhere to the sector-specific guidelines that have been issued (e.g. F&B, Retail and Shopping malls & standalone stores). Members of the public are also reminded to practise safe distancing and be socially responsible. - End - For media enquiries, please contact: Enterprise Singapore Ms Jessie NG Senior Business Partner Corporate Communications M: +65 8318 2578 E: email@example.com About Enterprise Singapore Enterprise Singapore is the government agency championing enterprise development.
