Living in Singapore

Overview

Singapore is consistently named as Asia’s most liveable city1, testament to its safe environment, quality housing, renowned educational institutions, established healthcare services, and excellent transport networks.

The government’s pro-business stance and low personal income tax rates make the city-state an attractive place to work in or set up a company. Beyond work, the flourishing arts and cultural scene, coupled with over 3,000 hectares of parks and reservoirs, defines Singapore as the ideal place to relax and unwind.

Cosmopolitan city living

Singapore strives to enhance our pool of working professionals by attracting the best talents from all corners of the world. The city-state seeks to create a diverse and resilient workforce with capable foreign and local workers. The nation’s receptiveness to overseas talents is reflected in its visa schemes catering to different needs and people: long-term or short-term, employment or family, and residency or citizenship.

Educational system

Singapore has a high literacy rate and a strong educational system that ranks among the best in the world2. English is the medium of instruction, with a bilingual policy in place to ensure that students are proficient with a second language. Public schools are complemented with private and international schools, including quality public and private universities.

Green Parks

The Lion City is also known as the garden city, thanks to a balance between fast-paced urban living and tranquil lush greenery. Despite being one of the most densely populated countries in the world, green spaces are abundant and linked by an extensive network of park connectors. Various natural attractions include the UNESCO World Heritage listed Singapore Botanic Gardens, ASEAN Heritage Park listed Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve, and Gardens by the Bay.

Healthcare services

Singapore has gained international prominence as Asia’s leading medical hub, with advanced facilities and internationally accredited medical personnel forming the backbone of public and private hospitals. The country’s healthcare system is affordable and highly accessible – with over a dozen public hospitals, ten private hospitals3, and more than 2,000 General Practitioner clinics island-wide.
