: Opening Speech by Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Culture, Community and Youth, at the Launch of the Job-Skills Integrator for Wholesale Trade (JSIT-WST) on 5 August 2024
On 5 August 2024, Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Culture, Community and Youth, delivered an opening speech at the launch of the Job-Skills Integrator for Wholesale Trade (JSIT-WST).
MOS Tan shared that Wholesale Trade has grown to become Singapore’s largest sector, accounting for more than 20% of our GDP and approximately 300,000 jobs last year. As part of Singapore’s Trade 2030 priorities to grow globally competitive traders, it is important to help Wholesale Trade companies transform their processes, operations, and business models. Hence, the JSIT-WST was launched to help companies in the sector redesign jobs and reskill employees to address their human capital needs. Singapore Business Federation has been appointed the JSIT partner for the Wholesale Trade sector, while the initiative is supported by Enterprise Singapore in collaboration with Workforce Singapore and SkillsFuture Singapore.
