On 9 July 2024, Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, Co-chair of the 5th Singapore-Shanghai Comprehensive Cooperation Council (SSCCC) delivered closing remarks at the 5th SSCCC.

Mr Tong said that economic ties between Singapore and Shanghai have made steady progress despite uncertainties in the global environment. He added that both sides made good driving two-way business exchanges and collaborations as well; Singapore companies remain interested to grow their business and provide value to Shanghai and the broader Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. Singapore is also a natural springboard and trusted partner for internationalising Shanghai companies that are seeking to tap on the growing opportunities in Southeast Asia.
