: Speech by Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry at Standards & Conformance Gala Dinner 2026
On 11 June 2026, Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, delivered a speech at the Standards and Conformance (S&C) Gala Dinner, where he launched Singapore's S&C 2035 roadmap. S&C 2035 will strengthen Singapore’s National Quality Infrastructure for resilience and growth, and contribute positively towards building an interconnected and trusted global economy.
The roadmap rests on three pillars. On driving economic growth, he emphasised that S&C should not be an afterthought, but part of how products are designed, tested, produced, and brought to market from the beginning. On building a future-ready ecosystem, he highlighted the importance of standards helping to shape the market before practices diverge. On strengthening Singapore's role in regional and global S&C ecosystems, he shared that this means building bridges between international standards and regional needs, regulators and businesses, and emerging technologies and trusted market access.
