A first of its kind in Asia, the Professional Master of Business Administration (“PMBA”) with specialisation in International Trading by Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), aims to train experienced professionals in commodity and wholesale trade to lead effectively across markets and cultures.
Designed for mid-career professionals with strong leadership potential, the PMBA (International Trading) curriculum is designed in close consultation with industry leaders and with the support of Enterprise Singapore to ensure direct relevance to industry requirements and challenges.
The programme consists of 14 core modules of the Nanyang Professional MBA and an additional 6 specialisation modules focused on international trading. Taught on alternate weekends over a duration of 18 months, the programme will offer working professionals a holistic education that develops cross-cultural intelligence, knowledge of emerging technologies, awareness of sustainability and regulatory issues, and the ability to manage opportunities and risks in the dynamic global trading environment.
NTU will also be partnering with the University of Geneva which has an established track record in commodity trading. The weeklong study trip includes in-class workshops that will strengthen participants knowledge of the laws and regulations surrounding international trade, ethical and environmental responsibilities along the value chain, the principles of sustainable finance, and skills for effective cross-cultural interactions.
Strategic insights: Explore critical aspects of international trading through specialisation electives such as commodity markets, structured solutions, and risk management, as well as an overseas study segment at the University of Geneva – a knowledge centre for commodity trading.
Leadership skills: Develop critical leadership skills and examine the power of technology as a business tool, and prepare yourself to take on leadership responsibilities and drive digital transformation in the workplace.
Application-based learning: Experience application-based learning that combines lectures with case studies, study trips, hands-on industry projects, and simulations to support you in developing and implementing ideas that challenge business conventions and create more value within your organisation.
Industry support and networks: Benefit from collaborative support and industry feedback from Enterprise Singapore and NTU’s Centre of Excellence in International Trading (CEIT), which engages corporate partners spanning all segments of the trading ecosystem.
Minimal downtime: Enjoy an accelerated 18-month schedule of weekend classes, held twice a month at an accessible location in downtown Singapore.
