Buy Appliances that Comply with Safety Standards

Safety standards specify performance, reliability and safety requirements to prevent malfunctions that may cause physical harm to users. Some examples include specifications for material strength and fire resistance. Homeowners should not hesitate to ask if a product complies with safety standards prior to purchase.

Look out for products with the SAFETY Mark

Certain gas and electrical appliances that have the potential to cause serious injuries and property damage when they malfunction are required by law to be tested to specified safety standards. Appliances that have passed safety tests will be affixed with the SAFETY Mark before they can be sold in Singapore.

The SAFETY Mark can be found on either the product or its packaging.
